How to setup Vortex Race 3 keyboard for Mac and move Fn key to Home

How to setup Vortex Race 3 for Mac with latest (on 2020-01-05) firmare V1.02.05.

For better understanding we will use the following naming convention:

  [ L1 ][ L2 ][ L3 ][ Space ][ R1 ][ R2 ][ R3 ]
  1. Reset everything by pressing L3+R1 for 5 seconds. Left LED will blink white color while you're holding the keys. Release them after it stopeed blinking.
  2. Get into one of the programmable layers (R2+RShift) – I like red, the super bright laser LED is the least super annoying in red.
  3. Put the keyboard in Windows Mode (Pn+W), it's the least problematic one.

Demystifying Docker Volumes for Mac and PC Users

Demystifying Docker Volumes for Mac and PC Users

  1. Docker runs on a Linux kernel

Docker can be confusing to PC and Windows users because many tutorials on that topic assume you're using a Linux machine.

As a Linux user, you learn that Volumes are stored in a part of the host filesystem managed by Docker, and that is /var/lib/docker/volumes. When you're running Docker on a Windows or Mac OS machine, you will read the same documentation and instructions but feel frustrated as that path don't exist on your system. This simple note is my answer to that.

When you use Docker on a Windows PC, you're typically doing one of these two things:

  • Run Linux containers in a full Linux VM (what Docker typically does today)

Visualisers of the Lightning Network (and some other explorers)

A (mostly) visual collection of the Lightning Network

Disclaimer

Network views tend to be the view of the network from a single node, or small selection of nodes. They are not complete views of the network. This is impossible to achieve. Even if many node views were combined, it would still be incomplete.

These network views, or network maps, have been termed 'visualisers' by the LN community.

Screenshots may reflect older visual styles, and are dated accordingly.

Falsehoods programmers believe about time, in a single list

Falsehoods programmers believe about time

This is a compiled list of falsehoods programmers tend to believe about working with time.

Don't re-invent a date time library yourself. If you think you understand everything about time, you're probably doing it wrong.

Falsehoods

  • There are always 24 hours in a day.
  • February is always 28 days long.
  • Any 24-hour period will always begin and end in the same day (or week, or month).

Exporting your 2FA tokens from Authy to transfer them into another 2FA application

IMPORTANT - Update regarding deprecation of Authy desktop apps

Past August 2024, Authy stopped supported the desktop version of their apps:
See Authy is shutting down its desktop app | The 2FA app Authy will only be available on Android and iOS starting in August for details.

And indeed, after a while, Authy changed something in their backend which now prevents the old desktop app from logging in. If you are already logged in, then you are in luck, and you can follow the instructions below to export your tokens.

If you are not logged in anymore, but can find a backup of the necessary files, then restore those files, and re-install Authy 2.2.3 following the instructions below, and it should work as expected.

Handling Multiple Github Accounts on MacOS

Handling Multiple Github Accounts on MacOS

The only way I've succeeded so far is to employ SSH.

Assuming you are new to this like me, first I'd like to share with you that your Mac has a SSH config file in a .ssh directory. The config file is where you draw relations of your SSH keys to each GitHub (or Bitbucket) account, and all your SSH keys generated are saved into .ssh directory by default. You can navigate to it by running cd ~/.ssh within your terminal, open the config file with any editor, and it should look something like this:

Host *
 AddKeysToAgent yes

> UseKeyChain yes
