Main

  • The length of the CV should be 1-page
  • Readability is priority

Sections

There are several sections in the CV:

Contact info

  • The first one is information about you:
    • Name in large font
    • Contact details: LinkedIn, email, phone number, maybe GitHub
    • Short description for example:
      • John Smith is an iOS Software Engineer with 7 years of experience
      • 6+ years of industry experience in C# and a proven track record for building and shipping production software.

Experience

  • This section describes how you contribute what you worked on - information for employer how you performed on the previous jobs
  • Listed up different responsibilities that you have during job, Bold technologies that you have used
  • Write each bullet sentence in terms of metrics or goals - sentence should show how you directly helped the company
  • What I did for Impact I made This section should tell a story about your employment in the company with achievements and experience START format:
  • Situation
  • Task
  • Action
  • Result Is a good approach for such stories. Under story, I mean some "bullet" in experience description or whole experience at a particular position or company. Stories should contain technologies (tools, languages). Structure:
  • What did you do?
  • How did you do it?
  • What was the impact? We have to show that:
  • Project was challenging
  • Project has a big scope Explanation:
  • Start every bullet from action word in past tens, think of strong verbs like: Implemented, designed, led, researched, experimented, etc
  • Be concise and use lots of number compute the impact think of how many people you affected or how much time or money you saved for the company (percentages, dollar signs or time terms)

  • Developed project to expire old referrals saving the company $500k per year
  • Led backed development of SEO crawl pages, dynamically generating ~100.000 unique pages using ElasticSearch, Java, and cron to mach user specified search criteria
  • Built, extended and optimized API endpoints that serve millions of web, iOS and Android clients

Skills

List of skills to pass AI filtering:

  • List out languages, tools, DBs, Other
  • Gives overview of technical abilities
  • Goes through screen radar
  • You don't need to put grades for skills and soft skills

  • Certificates
  • Coding bootcamps

Others

  • Objective and Accomplishments Sections (optional):
    • some third-party staff should be removed Best formats: .pdf or .doc
