Workshop Description

Use Apigee and APIs to secure, and control your home! In our IoT themed developer workshop we'll be building a home security system that will use a combination of JavaScript, Hardware, and APIs. This workshop will give you first hand experience in the world of hardware using Zettajs the Apigee framework for the Internet of Things. You'll model devices, orchestrate interactions, and get an API for free. A strong knowledge of JavaScript, and Node.js is required. You should have node installed on your computer, and a text editor ready to write code.

What we'll cover

  1. How to prototype an IoT project with easy access off the shelf hardware.
  2. How to write software that runs on these devices.
  3. Modeling your devices in JavaScript using Zetta to get a Web API.
  4. Building your first "Big App" using Zetta to control devices, and orchestrate interactions between them.

This workshop is perfect for an experienced web developer, or mobile developer interested in what it takes to build for the Internet of Things. The class will be lead by the Apigee Labs team who has been developing this platform for the past year. After this workshop you'll walk away with experience to build out your own projects in your home, and even create a kickstarter worth prototype!
