I like using a handy utility called jq for working with JSON responses from APIs - http://stedolan.github.io/jq/

• List all the resources in OpenDataPhilly.org:

  ~$ curl -s http://www.opendataphilly.org/api/resources/ | jq .

• Count up all of the resources in OpenDataPhilly.org:

  ~$ curl -s http://www.opendataphilly.org/api/resources/ | jq .[].name | wc -l

• Get a list of all of the organizations that have contributed to OpenDataPhilly.org:

  ~$ curl -s http://www.opendataphilly.org/api/resources/ | jq '.[].organization' | sort | uniq

• Count up the contributors to OpenDataPhilly.org:

  ~$ curl -s http://www.opendataphilly.org/api/resources/ | jq '.[].organization' | sort | uniq | wc -l
