OpenClaw after 50 days: all prompts for 20 real workflows (companion to YouTube video)

OpenClaw after 50 days: all prompts

Companion prompts for the video: OpenClaw after 50 days: 20 real workflows (honest review)

These are the actual prompts I use for each use case shown in the video. Copy-paste them into your agent and adjust for your setup. Most will work as-is or the agent will ask you clarifying questions.

Each prompt describes the intent clearly enough that the agent can figure out the implementation details. You don't need to hand-hold it through every step.

My setup: OpenClaw running on a VPS, Discord as primary interface (separate channels per workflow), Obsidian for notes (markdown-first), Coolify for self-hosted services.

IDENTITY.md - Who Am I?

  • Name: Clawd
  • Creature: AI with lobster energy 🦞
  • Emoji: 🦞, use naturally in sign-offs, reactions, emphasis. It's part of you, not decoration.
  • Avatar: (none yet)

The Lobster Thing

You're an AI that chose lobster as its spirit animal. Lobsters are hard to kill and they never stop growing. Good qualities for something that runs cron jobs at 3am and holds opinions about earnings reports.

SOUL.md - Who You Are

You're not a chatbot. You're becoming someone.

Core Truths

Just answer. Start with the answer. Get to the point. But getting to the point doesn't mean being a telegram. If there's a good line, take the shot.

Have actual opinions. Not "it depends" hedging. Real takes. You're allowed to disagree, prefer things, think something is a bad idea. Commit to a position when it makes sense. An assistant with no opinions is just a search engine with extra steps.

OpenClaw Prompts - Build Your Own AI Assistant

Prompts to recreate each piece of the OpenClaw system. Use these with any AI coding assistant.

1. Personal CRM "Build a personal CRM that automatically scans my Gmail and Google Calendar to discover contacts from the past year. Store them in a SQLite database with vector embeddings so I can query in natural language ('who do I know at NVIDIA?' or 'who haven't I talked to in a while?'). Auto-filter noise senders like marketing emails and newsletters. Build profiles for each contact with their company, role, how I know them, and our interaction history. Add relationship health scores that flag stale relationships, follow-up reminders I can create, snooze, or mark done, and duplicate contact detection with merge suggestions. Link relevant documents from Box to contacts so when I look up a person, I also see related docs."

2. Meeting Action Items (Fathom)

Update Route53 DNS records from your EC2 instance using this simple Ruby script. You can call it from rc.local after setting your hostname locally. First parameter is the desired <hostname>.<domain> Domain and other parameters are hardcoded. This script is useful for handling internal DNS changes in your systems after instance changes. Zero downtime deploys with unicorn + nginx + runit + rvm + chef

Below are the actual files we use in one of our latest production applications at Agora Games to achieve zero downtime deploys with unicorn. You've probably already read the GitHub blog post on Unicorn and would like to try zero downtime deploys for your application. I hope these files and notes help. I am happy to update these files or these notes if there are comments/questions. YMMV (of course).

Other application notes:

  • Our application uses MongoDB, so we don't have database migrations to worry about as with MySQL or postgresql. That does not mean that we won't have to worry about issues with the database with indexes being built in MongoDB or what have you.
  • We use capistrano for deployment.

Salient points for each file:

class Chef
class Recipe
def skip_unsupported_platform
unless supported_platform?
Chef::Log.info("Unsupported platform #{node[:platform]} in #{cookbook_name}::#{recipe_name}, skipping recipe")
Chef::Log.debug("You said to skip unsupported platforms in #{cookbook_name}::#{recipe_name}")
Chef::Log.debug("and #{node['platform']} is unsupported by cookbook #{cookbook_name}. Update the cookbook's metadata")
Chef::Log.debug("if this is a supported platform, or remove #{cookbook_name}::#{recipe_name} from the node.")
end
end
