I would suggest using Starlight instead of Phosphor - it is much better at optimizing the light engine than Phosphor(but it is still in beta, so there are some issues).
Iris Shaders allows OptiFine's shaders to work on fabric. By combining it with sodium (Which it comes with by default) you can get much higher fps than OptiFine even when both have shaders installed.
What about mods that are specifically designed to work with optifabric, and don't work with sodium.
I'm not worried about the fancy optifine features, I'm worried about passing 10fps with my low-range graphics card.
Immersive Portals for example,
When is sodium being updated to 1.17?
Can I still use the 1.16.5 version in 1.17?

This issue is even pinned...
When is sodium being updated to 1.17?
Can I still use the 1.16.5 version in 1.17?
There is now a release for 1.17
Sodium 0.3.0 for Minecraft 1.17.1
Could also look at iris shaders
- Sodium is 5x faster than optifine and doesn't slow down from stupid things like rain and clouds (Apparently OF sympathizers say that the reason SodiumOptifine comparisons go so well is because they don't turn off the clouds???? Why in the world would clouds effect performance that much)
- Iris uses the same format as Optifine and is much faster (Canvas is it's own format and is incompatible with sodium)
- Connected Block Textures for Fabric download is 1.16 but still works in 1.17 (you may have to edit the
fabric.mod.json
from 1.16 to 1.17.x) and uses the same format as Optifine (Also ConnectedTexturesMod uses it's own format) but Indium is needed for compatibility between CBT/CTM and Sodium - OK Zoomer or Logical Zoom (I prefer OK Zoomer)
- LambdasBetterGrass
- LambdasDynamicLights
just check my list for anything marked with OF-Alt
and Optimization

I think the feature most people will be missing is shader support, it's essential for many YouTuber's and I'm afraid that many people that are not active in the modding scene will just go back to forge, if they can no longer use OptiFine with fabric.
heh, Iris came to the rescue, making shaders more compatible? that's just awesome
Any mods that lets you use custom 3d weapons/armor and item frame stuff?
like the ghouls texture pack which adds hunderds of items to place using item frames
or the kind of 3d sword pack that needs optifine
This is cool! But it still misses two important features optifine provides:
- Shaders
- Extra features for resource packs
They are mostly available for Fabric 1.17 as listed in this gist
For shaders, you should definetly try out Iris Shaders
https://irisshaders.net/
Is this compatible with Sodium Extra Mod?
Definitely don't think so.
is there any mod that would add extra features for texturepacks(like random, connected, varianted and emmisive textures)? thats the only thing that im looking for tbh
Not sure about varianted or random textures, but afaik iris does emissive if you have shaders and fabric ctm does connected textures.
You should add Iris for shaders
What optifine do i need to download? The original or the mirror?
It's not working
Dude, this isn't a place for support. The gist itself links you to a page about OF alternatives, so you can and should assume they have no intention of supporting this anymore.
Fabulously Optimized is another alternative.
@Merith-TK do you prefer Vanillia for any particular reason?
I second this request for an animated texture disabler mod/resource pack. That would be incredibly useful.
