Thank you for sharing. I am setting up Cassandra using Vagrant and needed this for the boot strap. I updated it for Java 8. Based on the following instructions:
http://www.webupd8.org/2014/03/how-to-install-oracle-java-8-in-debian.html
# Install Oracle Java 8
sudo aptitude install -y python-software-properties
echo "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu trusty main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
echo "deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/java/ubuntu trusty main" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d/webupd8team-java.list
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys EEA14886
sudo aptitude update
# Enable silent install
echo debconf shared/accepted-oracle-license-v1-1 select true | sudo debconf-set-selections
echo debconf shared/accepted-oracle-license-v1-1 seen true | sudo debconf-set-selections
sudo aptitude -y install oracle-java8-installer
sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-8-oracle
sudo apt-get install -y oracle-java8-set-default
