FDM Nozzle Compatibility Table

Nozzle Material PLA ABS PETG TPU Nylon Abrasive Composites
Brass
Hardened Steel 🟡¹ 🟡¹ 🟡¹ 🟡¹ 🟡¹
Stainless Steel 🟡² 🟡² 🟡² 🟡² 🟡²
Tungsten Carbide 🟡³ 🟡³ 🟡³ 🟡³ 🟡³

  1. Hardened Steel: Lower thermal conductivity than brass can slightly affect extrusion consistency with standard filaments.
  2. Stainless Steel: Reduced heat transfer efficiency makes it less ideal for non-abrasive filaments.
  3. Tungsten Carbide: Its lower thermal conductivity requires careful temperature tuning for non-abrasive filaments, though it excels with abrasive composites.
