natea: our best resource for that is sarina, but she is intentionally not taking on significant i18n work, with the goal of pressuring edX into hiring someone whose full-time job is handling i18n

natea: so yeah, there are some things about i18n with Open edX that don't work well, or are simply flat-out broken. I know that it causes people in the community a lot of pain that there's no way to download translations for older versions of the codebase, for example.

pending that hire, is there anyone in the community that you know of who has successfully translated Chinese strings (or any other language, other than english), who might be able to assist us with this issue?

natea: the initial work of getting the platform internationalized was done by TsinghuaX, who is a member of the edX Consortium
