1 tbsp olive oil 15 mL | |
1 small onion | |
3 cloves garlic, minced | |
1 tsp chili powder 5 mL | |
1 tsp ground cumin 5 mL | |
1 1/3 cups ketchup 325 mL | |
2/3 cup dr. pepper 150 mL | |
1/4 cup soy sauce 60 mL | |
1/4 cup cider vinegar 60 mL | |
1 drop liquid smoke | |
Freshly ground black pepper to taste | |
In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. | |
Sauté the onions for 4 to 5 minutes without allowing | |
them to brown. Add minced garlic and continue cooking | |
for 2 minutes. Stir in the chill powder and cumin and | |
continue stirring for 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in the | |
ketchup, the Dr. Pepper, soy sauce, vinegar, and | |
liquid smoke. Season with pepper. Simmer for 5 | |
minutes. Remove from the heat. | |
