A cheap knock off of the default validates_length_of validator, but checks the filesize of a Carrierwave attachment

Note that this validation runs both after the file is uploaded and after CarrierWave has processed the image. If your base uploader includes a filter to resize the image then the validation will be run against the resized image, not the original one that was uploaded. If this causes a problem for you, then you should avoid using a resizing filter on the base uploader and put any specific size requirements in a version instead.

So instead of this:

require 'carrierwave/processing/mini_magick'

A good varnish config for a Rails app
# https://www.varnish-cache.org/docs/2.1/tutorial/vcl.html
# https://www.varnish-cache.org/trac/wiki/VCLExamples
# Summary
# 1. Varnish will poll the backend at /health_check to make sure it is
# healthy. If the backend goes down, varnish will server stale content
# from the cache for up to 1 hour.
# 2. Varnish will pass X-Forwarded-For headers through to the backend
# 3. Varnish will remove cookies from urls that match static content file
# extensions (jpg, gif, ...)

This playbook has been removed as it is now very outdated.

Deploy Python app using Pandas on Heroku

2012-09-08

This document explains how to deploy a Python app that uses the Pandas library on Heroku.

Heroku builds Numpy (one of Pandas' requirements) fine. However, when trying to deploy an app with both numpy and pandas in its requirements.txt file (or even just pandas), for some reason it fails
