  1. vi /etc/environment

add these lines...

LANG=en_US.utf-8
LC_ALL=en_US.utf-8

Alternatively,

  1. Create locale file manually: localedef -i en_US -f UTF-8 en_US.UTF-8

  • add SendEnv to /etc/ssh/ssh_config

Please what do we mean exactly by SendEnv?
