Implemented this in hosts, and seems to also speed up Edge significantly.
! One downside I noticed: Sticky Notes app shows Triangle Icon at top of app and won't sync updates.
Any ideas what edit to the list would restore this functionality?

Less harsh list that will make Bing AI and other Microsoft services work while focusing on blocking telemetry
Gosh it would be nice if the PowerToys Hosts File Editor didn't have a limit of 9 hosts per entry. Because that would be a much more convenient way to add the entire list.
@tcfurrer What's so difficult about editing the hosts file in Notepad (run as Administrator)?
Editing the file directly is not ideal because it requires the malware protection exclusion (otherwise it gets automatically reverted immediately after being edited). I don't like that solution because it opens the door wide open for other things to come afterward and edit the file in malicious ways.
When editing using PowerToys, the exclusion is not needed (which I assume is the whole point of that tool?). So I wish I could easily come in through that door, but adding a long list in groups of 9 is way too tedious. It also detects bogus redundancy, but that can just be ignored.
Having said that, I'm probably just whining here. I should instead say that I really appreciate this list. It seems to be working well to speed up my Edge browsing too. Especially whenever my ISP is offline and I still want to browse various devices with HTML front ends within my local network.
The performance cost of numerous dependencies on cloud services in most modern software is really quite disappointing!
This list breaks the Windows Weather App along with the live tile.
Can you please correct, or release another one with the app functional?

I have indagated a little bit and it seems that unblocking ntp.msn.com fixes most of the new page in Edge and that assets.msn.com fixes the other, but it also downloads a lot more useless js.
@albertopasqualetto I've unblocked view.officeapps.live.com, as well as bing.com and microsoft.com, but I won't unblock *.msn.com because it makes a new tab page bloated and full of tracking scripts. Feel free to ignore them in your hosts file.

I need help. Two years ago I got tired of constant updates to my windows 10 that I do not need, no tweakers did not help me and updates still somehow downloaded, and installed by displaying a blue screen after which constantly installed updates. The thing is that I found a huge list of sites that block all services and sites for updates, but I need to get into microsoft store and it is one of the sites installed in hosts, but I do not remember which one. IN 2023 I ALREADY FOUND ON THE INTERNET ON SOME FORUMS THE ANSWER OF THE PERSON WHO HELPED ME, THERE WAS ONLY ONE SITE THAT I DELETED FROM THE FILE HOSTS AND EVERYTHING WORKED. I was looking for this solution to install Chinese for my windows 10, then microsoft store was giving error 0x80070422 the solution to which I searched youtube so I remembered it.

Still in what regards to "login to the Microsoft account"; If one wants to keep the system utility app "Windows Backup" working (which requires to be able to login to the Microsoft account) then the following must not be added in the hosts file or else the app will complain that there's no internet connection:

This is awesome! Could someone please tell me which of these hosts must I comment out to be able to download addons? I have enabled the microsoftedge.microsoft.com host that is allowing me to access the addons site, but when I am trying to install an extension, it says download interrupted.

Read how to edit your hosts file on Windows, Linux and Mac OS. Windows Security blocks modification of the hosts file by falsely reporting SettingsModifier:Win32/PossibleHostsFileHijack, so you have to add an exclusion for it.
