  • GCP -- Uses KVM

Virtualization Technologies

Xen

  • Invented ~ 2003
  • Used in:
    • EC2
    • Qubes OS

KVM

  • Main API is libvirt
    • Associated daemon is libvirtd
    • Associated CLI utility is virsh
    • Libvirt supports other virtualization technologies, including Xen
