The kernel line in grub.cfg will be looking like this after update-grub

linux   /boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-25-generic root=UUID=a29d57ee-5b5b-4b22-b923-bd583c861590 ro   crashkernel=384M-2G:64M,2G-:128M nomodeset acpi_osi=Linux nosplash video=vesa:off resume
