Things to know before migration:
- Any layers/maps you have shared from Excel will no longer be able to be updated. They will continue to exist in their current form, but if they need to be updated they must be republished (and then any related maps/apps must be updated).
- Testing indicates that hosted layers shared from Desktop can be accessed and updated ("overwritten") from your new enterprise login account.
- Still investigating...which Esri Apps (e.g., Community Analyst, Collector, Ops Dashboard, etc.) support enterprise logins?
Actions needed to complete migration:
-
Spot check your items and groups and let the admin (Owen) know if things look good.
-
Complete the user profile for your new account:
- Change your display name so that it no longer shows as [email protected]_esrifederal
- Upload a professional photo such as your official Esri staff photo.
- Confirm your profile visiblity is “Everyone (public)"
- See here for help on how to update your profile.
- See here, here, and here for best practices for making a good profile:
- Esri Maps for Office
- Configure Esri Maps for Office (both Excel & PowerPoint) to point to Esri National Government organization.
- Open Excel > File menu > Esri Maps > set ArcGIS Connection to http://esrifederal.maps.arcgis.com
- Repeat previous steps with PowerPoint
- Notify the administrator (Owen) that these items are complete
- Your old account will be deleted within two weeks
Notes:
-
URLs for groups will change.
- This shouldn't affect anything with AGO, but might break and saved/registered bookmarks to groups.
-
Still investigating how to use Esri Apps (Community Analyst, Collector, etc.) with enterprise logins
- May still need to keep an ArcGIS account for use with these apps.
