Bruteforce 4-digit passcode on iPhone 5 iOS 9~10 via SSH Ramdisk

Bruteforce 4-digit passcode on iPhone 5 iOS 9~10 via SSH Ramdisk

Here is a guide for automatically bruteforcing 4-digit passcodes on iPhone 5 using only a computer and a USB cable (without an MFC Dongle). My device is iPhone5,2 (iPhone 5 Global) iOS 9.2 (FMI OFF), the steps below may work on other 32-bit devices or other iOS versions (see below for tested working devices and iOS versions), but shall not work on any 64-bit devices.

See https://www.reddit.com/r/setupapp/comments/1ha2arg/bruteforce_4digit_passcode_on_iphone_5_ios_9_via/ for discussions.

Updated 10 Jan. 2025:

A more powerful guide for bruteforcing 32-bit devices was released by a reddit user: https://www.reddit.com/r/setupapp/comments/1hw5bfa/bruteforcing_32bit_iphones_ondevice_4_digit_pin/

4-digit passcode bruteforce for A5 on iOS 9

tl;dr

The iphone-dataprotection project (GiHub mirror) includes a tool to determine an iOS device's 4-digit passcode using a brute force technique. That project only claims support for devices <= iOS 8 and < A5. It turns out the code also supports A5 devices on iOS 9.

However the brute force utility also requires a companion kernel patch to enable access to keys such as 0x835 in calls to the AES accelerator from userland. This doc confirms the value of said patches for 32-bit iOS 9.

This writeup also describes the various st

Adb useful commands list
Hi All!
I've recently launched a tool that wraps many of the commands here with a user interface. This desktop application is currently available for macOS. There's a roadmap outlining planned features for the near future.
Feel free to request any features you'd like to see, and I'll prioritize them accordingly.
One of the most important aspects of this application is that every command executed behind the scenes is displayed in a special log section. This allows you to see exactly what’s happening and learn from it.
Here's the link to the repository: https://github.com/Pulimet/ADBugger
App Description:
ADBugger is a desktop tool designed for debugging and QA of Android devices and emulators. It simplifies testing, debugging, and performance analysis by offering device management, automated testing, log analysis, and remote control capabilities. This ensures smooth app performance across various setups.

Removing a Mac's Firmware Password By Reflashing EFI ROM

According to Apple, the only way to remove an unknown firmware password from a MacBook (2011 and later) is to take it to the Apple Store with the original proof-of-purchase. However, I've found that there is another way, which I've been successful with for the unibody MacBook Pro--it's essentially just modifying a couple bytes in the EFI ROM, which should be simple. What's not simple, however, is figuring out how to read and write to the EFI chip. In this post, I'll talk about the process that I figured out and what worked for me.

The Official Method

Apple's method of resetting the firmware password is not reproducible, as Apple generates an SCBO file that unlocks the EFI using their private key. You can read more about this process here. The problem with this system is that, if you are in the unfortunate situation of neither having the firmware unlock pass

Notes

  • If the exploit fails even after multiple attempts or your device reboots out of DFU mode, you'll have to start over from the beginning and be quicker next time. (You don't have to redownload anything though.) You may have to force restart your device if it's stuck in DFU.
