its just a confusing experience due to the UI.
when i got to invite friends -> contacts I see a list of people from contacts etc which makes complete sense.
then it breaks down... | |
the add button feels like this is going to be a 1 click experience, but its not.
i expect those "add" buttons to perform an action (cuz the label says so) but they actually navigate instead.
that's relatively minor. its inconsistent but I bet it gets more click thru that way which justifies it.
the next step is the "bad" part.
1) I click add on a person and get to their contact screen which looks exactly like it does in the Contact app.
2) as such, I expect this screen to behave like the contacts app but it doesn't at all.
3) My expectation here is that clicking on a phone # will initiate a call & tapping an email address will launch me into composing an email. Apple has trained me over the last few years that this particular UI/screen behaves a certain way yet Path expects me to use it differently
4) its not apparent at all that I have to tap a phone number to pick where the invite is going to be delivered
5) there's no additional text explaining this... plus i dont think ive ever seen "tap a phone number to do something other than call someone" on any iOS ui ever. same with email addresses
this may be due to a limitation on what iOS allows but i was pretty damn confused for a while. I had no idea what to do and more or less tossed the dice to see what would happen
there also seems to be a bug in the invite flow.
the end result of the bug is that I get zero confirmation that an invites been sent or not.
to reproduce: | |
1) use menu to get "Home"
2) use right menu and tap "Add friends"
3) in Add Friends screen tap "Contacts"
4) search for a contact that isn't on Path (i didnt try scrolling)
5) tap the "Invite" button next to the person's name in search results
6) on Info screen tap on their phone number
7) behold - nothing happens - you're taken back to search results w/ zero confirmation
This same flow works just fine if you tap "Invite" in step 3 instead of "Contacts" |
