MongoDB 3.2.x SSL with Letsencrypt

MongoDB 3.2.x SSL with Letsencrypt

Letsencrypt is an initative which aims to increase the use of encryption for websites. It basically allows people to apply for free certificates provided that they prove the they control the requested domain. We will look at the what is needed to secure your MongoDB installation. For more details on setting up a MongoDB server see MongoDB 3.2.x.

Set the hostname

We sould to set the hostname to match the name of the certificate we are going to optain.

sudo hostname mongo0.example.com

Then update the hostname file to set the server name permanently.

Ultimate FreeNAS 11.3 iocage Setup

TrueNAS

I will be moving from FreeNAS jails to ubuntu with docker, docker compose, and portainer. FreeNAS support and updates are lacking. There are many advantages to making the switch and with ZFS on linux I think FreeNAS may be a thing of the past. Stay tuned for a new guide of my latest setup. Check out my other gists for progress on the switch. https://gist.github.com/mow4cash/626275e095f7f90898944a85d66b3be6

FreeNAS 11 setup for Plex, PlexPy, Sonarr, Radarr, Jackett, NZBGet, Organizr, NGinx, and Ombi

I am currently working on updating this guide after updating my media server. I have added notes on things I no longer use but may update those sections in the future for users who still use them. As of now, I have everything working with the exception of Ombi and the plugins I no longer use.

Make Nvidia EGPU working on mac os with Pytorch and Fast.ai

[Updated on 2018.11.14] I finally made my GTX1070 working with my MBP for Pytorch and fast.ai. Below are the steps:

Environment

  • MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) with touch bar
  • OSX version: 10.13.6 (Mojave may not work yet as of now)
  • eGPU: Razer Core X + GTX 1070 (MSI)

Steps 1: Install Nvidia Web Driver

Bootstrapping full iPXE native menu with customizable default option with timeout (also includes working Ubuntu 12.04 preseed install)

Add the following chunk to your existing ISC dhcpd.conf file.

if exists user-class and ( option user-class = "iPXE" ) {
    filename "http://boot.smidsrod.lan/boot.ipxe";
}
else {

### Preseed for Ubuntu 18.04
# Derived from: https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/installation-guide/example-preseed.txt
### Usage
# We recommend to use the build-iso.sh script to build an image with embedded
# preseed and other required files. In that case the preseed file gets loaded
# automatically and all additional files are available to the installer.
### Unattended Installation
