These settings choices follow the advice on Privacy Guides for Brave, except where they don't. And yes, these were my personal preferences: no judgement if someone disagrees. NOTE: I no longer use Brave.
Brave Shields are disabled in favor of uBlock Origin Lite for tracker and ad blocking.
Here is my modified list of changes beyond Brave's defaults:
- Appearance > Brave colors - Dark
- Appearance > Theme - Classic
- Appearance > Use system title bar - Disabled
- Toolbar > Show home button - Enabled (set as desired, or not)
- Show bookmarks button, Brave News... Brave Wallet, sidebar - Disabled
- Show sidebar - Never
- Trackers and ads blocking - Disabled
- Block scripts - Disabled
- Block fingerprinting - Disabled
- Block cookies - Disabled
- Security > Manage V8 security - Don't allow V8 optimizer
- Sites and Sheilds Settings > Automatically remove permissions from unused sites - Enabled
- WebRTC IP handling policy - Disable non-proxied UDP
- Use Google services for push messaging - Disable
- Auto-redirect AMP pages and Auto-redirect tracking URLs - Enabled
- Prevent sites from fingerprinting based on language preferences - Enabled
- Data collection > Disable all
- Default Ethereum wallet and Default Solana wallet - Extensions (no fallback)
- Web3 Domains (all) - Disabled
