D3.js Drag and Drop, Zoomable, Panning, Collapsible Tree with auto-sizing.

This example pulls together various examples of work with trees in D3.js.

The panning functionality can certainly be improved in my opinion and I would be thrilled to see better solutions contributed.

One can do all manner of housekeeping or server related calls on the drop event to manage a remote tree dataset for example.

Dragging can be performed on any node other than root (flare). Dropping can be done on any node.

Panning can either be done by dragging an empty part of the SVG around or dragging a node towards an edge.

Git Submodules basic explanation

Git Submodules - Basic Explanation

Why submodules?

In Git you can add a submodule to a repository. This is basically a repository embedded in your main repository. This can be very useful. A couple of usecases of submodules:

  • Separate big codebases into multiple repositories.

C++ Pointer Tutorial

C++ Pointer Tutorial

Because pointers can be ugh

"Regular" variables (not pointers)

To understand a pointer, let's review "regular" variables first. If you're familiar with a programming language without pointers like JavaScript, this is what you think when you hear "variable".

When declaring a variable by identifier (or name), the variable is synonymous with its value.

Get ngrok hostname from command line
#!/bin/sh
# ngrok's web interface is HTML, but configuration is bootstrapped as a JSON
# string. We can hack out the forwarded hostname by extracting the next
# `*.ngrok.io` string from the JSON
#
# Brittle as all get out--YMMV. If you're still reading, usage is:
#
# $ ./ngrok_hostname.sh <proto> <addr>
