Hacktoberfest is the month-long event held in October, to celebrate open source software. For the past seven years DigitalOcean along with its partners (including DEV) has run the campaign to promote opensource.
Let’s get connected on LinkedIn or Discord or Twitter or YouTube and start talking. You’ll find all the links above on the top!

If you’re completely new to Open Source or coding with others, then Hacktoberfest will be a good idea to start with. It’s a month long virtual festival event to celebrate open source contributions presented by Digital Ocean, Intel and DEV. It is the easiest way to get into open source! 🤘🏻
Also, this gives you a chance to get your own awesome Hacktoberfest Tee Shirt or a Tree Plantation opportunity to save us from the Climate Change.
Please start by registering in the offical Hacktoberfest’s official website.
After registration, please keep a check on your Hacktoberfest profile as well.
And then start contributing on the respositories that are participating in Hacktoberfest. You can see all the repositories that have the Hacktoberfest topic in them.
During the entire month of October, all you have to do is contribute to any open source projects and open at least 4 pull requests, which will get merged eventually. Yes, any project and any kind of contributions.
You don’t need to be an expert in programming or coding. It can be a be a bug fix, improvement, or even a documentation change! And win an awesome T-shirt and awesome stickers.
Here are a couple of my repositories for Hacktoberfest.
