I am on a linux machine running ubuntu and when I run the makefile I get the following error:

$ make -f fontello.mk 
curl --silent --show-error --fail --output .fontello \
	--form "config=@./src/font/config.json" \
	http://fontello.com
x-www-browser http://fontello.com/`cat .fontello`

has anyone seen this before?

For Mac, with fontsave target, you can pipe curl into bsdtar to save a few immediate steps:

		echo 'Run `make fontopen` first.' >&2 ; \

		| bsdtar --strip-components=1 -xf- -C $@
