RULES | |
* Contest starts at exactly 1PM EST on Friday, February 27, 2009
* Contest ends at exactly 5PM EST on Friday, February 27, 2009
* THREE winners will receieve an unpurchase-able Tikaro Gearxel Nerd Merit Badge
* ONE winner will receive a QRCode patch from http://p8tch.com (John's other project)
You can see pictures here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tikaro/3181563185/
HOW TO PLAY | |
* Take a picture that contains a Nerd Merit Badge somewhere in it, and post it
online anywhere you like.
* Send an @reply to @nerdmeritbadges with the URL of the photo.
* Depending on what the photo contains, the photo will be assigned a point value.
* EACH PHOTO IS A SINGLE ENTRY. You don't generate a cumulative score by posting
lots of photos (that would be too hard to score). You get a high score by including
as many things as possible in a SINGLE picture, so drag them all together.
* No photoshopping, shooping, or pictures of pictures.
Randy and John will be the sole judges of whether something is shooped.
We are not experts, but we've seen many shoops in our time.
* In the event of a tie, Randy and John will select a picture based on what made
them laugh the most. | |
AN EXAMPLE | |
* JOEY DUDEFELLA posts a picture that contains (all these are imaginary point values):
-- A tape drive +10 points
-- A d10 +10 points | |
-- Joey Dudefella himself +10 points
That picture is worth 30 points. At the end of the contest, it beats any
photos with less than 30 points. You should get the idea.
POINT VALUES: | |
This list will be added to up until the start of the contest.
Hell, we'll probably add to it DURING the contest. Unfair? Sure!
** POINT TOTALS ARE CUMULATIVE **. In other words, if you have three types of
Nerd Merit Badges visible in the photo, you get 10 points for each type, plus
the 50-point "Three visible simultaneously" bonus.
10 POINTS: For each type of Nerd Merit Badge visible in photo
10 POINTS: Mac SE/30 visible in photo
10 POINTS: Lego Mindstorms visible in photo
10 POINTS: At least one d10, d20, or other gamer-type die visible in photo
10 POINTS: DungeonMaster screen visible in photo
20 POINTS: For each person visible in photo
20 POINTS: Atari Lynx visible in photo
30 POINTS: Keyboard-to-face action photo
+10 POINT BONUS if the keyboard is a Model M
40 POINTS: Newb visible in photo, pleading for help-desk support
(word "NEWB" must be visible on the newb)
50 POINTS: Three types of Nerd Merit Badges visible in photo
150 POINTS: Four types of Nerd Merit Badges visible in photo
(I'm pretty sure this is impossible, as nobody has both the NYT badge
and the Gearxel) | |
GOOD LUCK! (you're going to need it)
