This Privacy Policy describes how My Quran ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use our mobile application. My Quran is an open-source Islamic application that provides Quran reading, prayer times, memorization tools, and other Islamic resources.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. The app is designed to function with minimal data collection and does not require any user account or login.
The app requests access to your device's location (GPS) solely to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Your location is:
- Used locally on your device to query prayer time data from the Aladhan API
- Reverse geocoded to determine your city name via OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service
- Cached locally on your device as a city name for convenience
- Never stored on any server we operate
- Never shared with third parties for advertising or tracking purposes
You can deny location permission, and the app will continue to function without prayer time features.
The app stores your preferences and reading progress locally on your device using Android DataStore. This includes:
- Last read surah and ayah position
- Last read book and page
- Font size settings (Arabic and Latin)
- Prayer notification and reminder settings
- Memorization progress
- Zakat calculation history
- Language preference
This data is stored entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.
- No personal information: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any personally identifiable information.
- No analytics or tracking: We do not use any analytics SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or similar services.
- No advertising: We do not display ads or use any advertising SDKs. No advertising identifiers are collected.
- No user accounts: The app does not require registration or login.
- No usage data: We do not track how you use the app, which screens you visit, or how long you spend in the app.
The app connects to the following third-party APIs to provide its core functionality. These are public APIs, and the app only sends the minimum data required for each request:

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
The app offers optional donation subscriptions through Google Play's billing system. All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not collect, process, or store any payment or financial information.
The app requests the following permissions:

All permissions serve a direct functional purpose. No permission is used for data collection or tracking.
Since we do not collect or transmit personal data to our own servers, there is minimal risk of data breach from our side. All data stored locally on your device is protected by the security mechanisms of your operating system.
The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no ads, no tracking, and no data collection mechanisms.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
