Ray Anthony Recent Music and Pandora Likes

Just a place to have available some notes on recent tracks I dig,so I have a way to recall share and relisten to things I enjoyed. For this purpose and to the end of ideally exporting at least my own likes in entirety along with stations and whatever else is relevant so i can enjoy the logic of the system for selection and acquisition of media but have the final say on what to hear when, without rules or shitty quality. At home I use Pithos on Linux. Flash in the browser sucks and its death and complications are hastened by the status quo in San Francisco at the moment, but that aside they are license-rich business model guys if they arent card carrying members of the mpaa, riaa, justice department, interpol, circle jerk screaming DMCA and or some shi** they are still representative of the same problem. One of the many philosophical objections to add to the list of reasons not to use flash or streaming services that heavily rely on them like lastfm.

More on Streaming

Streaming quality is illegal, exception is now Tidal streaming not really HD, but relatively speaking it is as its 16/44 flacs optionally. In contrast to nearly every other service which ranges from cheesegrater to mediocre and tolerable. Imagine plugging this playlist into your Tidal app. If I had the time and my subscription was valid I think I would start by injecting into the downloaded playlist files on the android phone. In a pinch I can tolerate pandora because the quality is that if you are running aac mode. And am beyond impressed as I always have been at just how well the algorithm with so little input just a smartly chosen couple tracks to seed and the patterns returns mathematically obvious but at the same time astonishingly relevant similar tracks. Music is a more narrow scope than say a general search engine like Google but it is amazingly effective. I never cease to be entertained by it.

More on Pandora

A Comprehensive list of property definitions for the data means incredible precision and granularity that the user can declare as favorable or not by the hundreds in a matter of seconds without even being aware of the process nor committing more than 3 muscle flexes of a finger to say 'i like how that sounds" or that they dont, and just like that we have a seamless natural efficient UX to integrate them with an engine that can run logical comparisons to deduce likely user feedback on the other 99.9% of the dataset, and further improve is acuracy with each future finger flex or whatever the few second physical interface is at a given time. Eye tracking or other physical subconscious gestures, or commands. The ease with which a user can interact creates a really perfect microcosm of a kind of symbiotic relationship where the user grows tastes as suggested by the engine and on feedback the engine grows to be more accurate and the entire cycle has a certain beauty to it. Not to mention the real world aplication is enjoyable, useful, unique even after a decade. I couldnt last 3 songs on a radio station in broacast I can listen for 2 days straight without hitting ski with pandora and in rare cases hear exclusively previously unheard tracks. Thats astounding.

To have it be an api rest-like library service like what lastfm evolved into would be the most logical growth for pandora. As a user that would be my only request. Especially because as far as I know there is not so much as a user activity feed or anything. A missed opportunity for Pandora who seems to really struggle I think perceptually on how to fit in with their peers, like a grandma confused by facebook. Or like microsoft or godaddy, looking at anything lol! So hacking one via ajax/perl/php is the best one could do and I would with the time. I would like this to have the accuracy of this service applied to the acquiring of music or library playback of local selections in my quality which is determined by obsessive criteria not by what the RIAA and Justice department circlejerk saw that will tolerate. HD Flac + Pandora=happy me. And just saying if one were to acquire or accurately even half accurately aggregate the dta that is pandora it in the rights hands is a billion dollars. Sitting there. For the moment I would be content to just listen to their service in at least 1995 quality you know redbook 44kHz/16bit/2ch or 48 is nice too and Neil Young agrees with me here, ahh when I'm out of this f****ing hole ...

Why does it work?

*Library of Music - mostly finite manageable size of meta data for each element the engine is to index *Metadata (Music) - categorization of tracks is the defining factor here doing away with old categories reminiscent of radio days, replacing it with 100 or more scientific definitions of properties transforms a guessing game skewed by financial interests, convenienceavailability, so many circumstantial variables into a more absolute and scientific discovery process. Logical comparisons work better and are pretty easy to code given it's the fundamental function of what we call a computer *Metadata (user) - User likes and dislikes and thus perceived relevance or success of engine are determined by defining the likes and dislikes of the user with respect to the available current set of metadata in the music index. defining user requirements couldnt be easier 3 clicks of likes and a dislike or two and the intimidatingly large library of popular music suddenly is a fraction of that, quite manageable, and bursting with insights potential library that would exist of music is suddenly incredibly alreadhundreds of
