My setup:

Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.5 2GB Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit with Desktop Release Date: September 22nd 2022

Bisq 1.9.9 built from source

Install Java

• Download Liberica Standard JDK 11 ARM 64 for Linux .DEB file
  • https://bell-sw.com/pages/downloads/#/java-11-lts
  • https://download.bell-sw.com/java/11.0.17+7/bellsoft-jdk11.0.17+7-linux-aarch64.deb
• sudo dpkg -i bellsoft-jdk11.0.17+7-linux-aarch64.deb

Build Bisq from source

• git clone https://github.com/tmakerman/bisq.git
• cd bisq
• git checkout bisq-on-rpi-v1.9.9
  • this branch applies the same changes as cbeams bisq-on-m1, but for linux aarch64 instead of mac https://github.com/cbeams/bisq/commit/8546f59b12a58775e6bf7fa1852204cfcfdb9f8e
• ./gradlew build
  • some artifact dependency verifications fail, this can be ignored
  • build took ~ 26 min on my RPi 4 4GB
  • Bisq is ready to run, however when it initializes it will try to connect to Bitcoin network over Tor using its bundled Tor which fails and it will eventually time out. Instead setup a Tor hidden service and configure Bisq to connect through that…

Setup Tor

• My steps below are taken from this guide:

• lsb_release -c
• Add following lines to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tor_repo.list – if codename from lsb_release was anything but bullseye change that in lines below
  • NOTE this step is modified from the guide I referenced above to add [arch=arm64] and properly resolve tor on RPi

I followed TMakerman's instructions, but in those instructions, I just needed to git clone his repo. My problem is that I don't know how to use the files with the changes that you posted above. Help me understand:

I should download 1.9.12 tar from bisq's repo releases, right? What's next? I know these files above have something to do with patches or are diff files, but I don't know how to apply them (git am? git diff?). I am reading about it this morning trying to figure it out, but if you can give me a hand I would be super thankful!

EDIT:

I figured that the files are patches (the p at the beginning and the format checks). However, even if I touch 'build.gradle.working', and I rename build.gradle to bisq.v12.gbuild.20230630 I can't git apply the patch:
error: patch failed: build.gradle.working:3
error: build.gradle.working: patch does not apply
It seems like I should have the build.gradle.working file already with the right code?

Sorry for the probably absolute noob questions, but I always worked with pull requests and with repos, this is totally new territory for me.

EDIT 2:

I just went the manual way and deleted the - lines and added the + lines. Not efficient but went faster than I thought. It's building 1.9.12 now

And finally thank you for the reply and for the work. If you ever get 1.9.14 to work and create a repo, that would help a lot of people I am sure.

Unfortunately when starting Bisq I get:
[JavaFX Application Thread] ERROR bisq.core.app.WalletAppSetup: com.google.protobuf.InvalidProtocolBufferException$InvalidWireTypeException: Protocol message tag had invalid wire type.

I am just gonna get some amd64 mini pc to run bisq in my home lab and be done with this... I find it curious that although the Raspberry Pi is the choice for so many projects related to Bitcoin, Bisq devs do not create arm64 builds for Bisq.
