2012-06-21 10:31 (PDT): glusterbot: <http://goo.gl/uQODN> (at www.devco.net)
2012-06-21 10:31 (PDT): fubada: how relevant is that today
2012-06-21 10:31 (PDT): fubada: his concerns/issues
2012-06-21 10:32 (PDT): semiosis: fubada: not relevant
2012-06-21 10:32 (PDT): JoeJulian: Probably not at all. An incredible amount has changed over 2 years.
2012-06-21 10:32 (PDT): semiosis: fubada: and that guy is a hater anyway, I have a hard time taking his opinions seriously
2012-06-21 10:32 (PDT): fubada: lol
2012-06-21 10:33 (PDT): semiosis: you know what they say... haters gonna hate
2012-06-21 10:34 (PDT): fubada: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.urlesque.com/media/2010/05/hatereagle.jpg
2012-06-21 10:34 (PDT): glusterbot: <http://goo.gl/CvwZK> (at www.blogcdn.com)
2012-06-21 10:34 (PDT): semiosis: !!!!!
2012-06-21 10:34 (PDT): jdarcy: Some of his concerns about debuggability remain valid, unfortunately.
2012-06-21 10:35 (PDT): JoeJulian: But this was never valid: "One small side note, as GlusterFS stores a lot of is magic data in x-attributes of the files I found that my GlusterFS based storage was about 15 to 20% bigger than my non GlusterFS ones, that seems a huge amount of waste."
2012-06-21 10:35 (PDT): jdarcy: Yeah, that's just hater FUD.
2012-06-21 10:37 (PDT): JoeJulian: Oh! I remember that guy. He didn't follow any directions and thought he knew everything.
2012-06-21 10:37 (PDT): jdarcy: Like me.
2012-06-21 10:38 (PDT): JoeJulian: But you do.
2012-06-21 10:38 (PDT): semiosis: to be fair though, he's done some impressive work... i just try to take what he says with a grain of salt
2012-06-21 10:38 (PDT): fubada: its not true that glsuter wastes 20% of your disk for meta data?
2012-06-21 10:38 (PDT): fubada: how wasteful
2012-06-21 10:39 (PDT): jdarcy: fubada: Not even close. The overhead might reach a percent or so if you have tiny files, that's about it.
2012-06-21 10:39 (PDT): fubada: im just kidding :P
2012-06-21 10:39 (PDT): * semiosis!~semiosis|at|z.peircean.comgot it
2012-06-21 10:39 (PDT): jdarcy: peterlin: Awesome. :)
(my case was literally millions of very small files, it added up, i can only report what I saw re metadata)
