General computing software and tools that I use

Android

  1. LibreTube: a YouTube forntend (install it from F-droid)
  2. Fennec: a FireFox based web browser (install it from F-droid)
  3. FireFox Focus: privacy focused web browser by Mozilla

Cross platform or web based

  1. Microsoft OneNote: for collaborative notes
  2. MusicBrainz Picard: a cross-platform music tagger powered by the MusicBrainz database
  3. Obsidian: note taking app for building a knowledgebase
  4. Piped.video: a YouTube frontend
  5. Portable Apps: small Windows applications that do not require installation
  6. Raindop: bookmark manager
  7. SimpleNote: a quick note taking app
  8. Standard Notes: end to end encrypted note taking app
  9. StartPage: Google based search engine, but privacy focused. I find it better than DuckDuckGo
  10. Standard Ebooks: beautifully edited public domain ebooks
  11. Termius: SSH client

Linux

  1. Gigolo: Gigolo is a frontend to easily manage connections to local and remote filesystems using GIO/GVfs. It allows you to quickly connect/mount a remote filesystem and manage bookmarks of such
  2. Grsync: Grsync is a simple GTK graphical front-end application for Rsync command line utility
  3. PDFsam: PDF split and merge tool (cross platform)

Windows

  1. MobaXterm: enhanced terminal for Windows with X11 server, tabbed SSH client, network tools and much more
  2. Toucan: Toucan is a small utility allowing you to synchronise, backup and secure your data
  3. SSHFS-Win Manager: SSHFS-Win Manager is a GUI (graphics user interface) for SSHFS on Windows

Mac

  1. Homebrew: Linux style package manager for Mac
  2. Magnet: organize open windows side by side.
