This example shows how to properly export a D3 SVG visualization to an image (png/jpeg) taking into account external css styles and embedded images. The code uses small FileSaver.js library to save generated images and Canvas-to-Blob.js library to ensure browser compatibility.

How i can export svg to svg?.Please help me
Hi,
Thank you very much for sharing this !
I had to make a small tweak and wanted to share it. The current code does not seem to capture all the css that's needed. When the are several class layers , e.g. ".chart .header .title" the contains function won't spot them. The current code only finds the class ".chart" or ".header" or ".title".
I replaced line 115 with a call to the following function :
function includes(str,arr) {
if ("undefined" !== typeof str) {
for (var q = 0; q < arr.length; q++) {
if (str.indexOf(arr[q]) !== -1) { return true; }
}
}
}
This is capturing more than needed but at least everything is there
Hi,
Thank you first of all, perfectly works! But I have my d3 chart in primefaces dialog window (popup) and cannot figure out how to export it to the parent window from that popup. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!!!
hi,
Image is downloaded with black background. How to change this ?
Hi
can you tell me how we can save this png into our directory?
I would recommend to use a single css file for all the chart-relevant styles instead of this complex parsing of the relevant css classes.
With the plain css in hand you have everything you need to render the png and can remove half of the code. Also you can be sure that every css-class is present.
Or use your complete css...I inserted a huge minified css file instead of parsing the relevant classes and had no performance impact. But a reduced css would be cleaner.
great start! thanks!
The demo crashes in IE 11.
