Tips for Vegas Pro 14 Edit

Vegas Pro 14 Tweaks for Windows 10

Turn off GPU Acceleration

  • Options > Preferences > Video > GPU acceleration of video processing: Off
  • Click Apply then OK
  • Restart Vegas

Disable Multi-Core Rendering for Playback

  • Ctrl+Shift + Options > Preferences (gives hidden Internal tab)
  • Click the Internal tab
  • Type core in search box
  • Change Enable multi-core rendering for playback to FALSE
  • Click Apply then OK
  • Restart Vegas

select audio file, press u, press delete

ctrl+drag right

drag to highlight section, ctrl+c, click marker destination, ctrl+v

Right click > Add Video Track
Right click > Insert Generated Media > (Legacy) Text
Set Duration in Duration Box, the two middle values are minutes and seconds (this is 10 mins and 20 secs - 00:10:20:00)
Delete the text and close the window
Right click > Media FX > VEGAS Timecode > Add > Ok
Set Timecode to Time or Seconds
Set Alignment
Preview Playback, close Media FX window
# blur a (rectangular) section of video
Right click video track, select Insert Video Track
Select your original video track, press u
Press ctrl+c, click in the empty video track at the top and press ctrl+v
Use this top track for bluring the section of the screen
Press the Pan & Crop Icon
Use the transport controls or enter the time to where the section is. The edit will likely apply to the whole video but you may have to seek to see it on screen.
Press Mask
Select the Rectangle select tool
Zoom in if required
Click and drag around the area to blur
Click Video FX near the bottom or side of your current work area
Scroll to All > Pixelate
Drag (Default) to your top video track
In the window that opens, choose Medium Horizontal from the Preset dropdown
Adjust the Horizontal Pixelation to approx 85.0-95.0
Adjust the Vertical Pixelation to approx 80.0-90.0
Close the window
Remember any edits like trimming and splitting should be done by selecting all tracks. Fading and moving can be done in unison if all tracks are selected. It may make more sense to edit the video first and then blur. If multiple sections need to be blurred out but at different locations, afaik it has to be done separately for each section.
