Reflection on group feedback conversation after Bike Share

Feedback II Reflection

  • Date of feedback conversation:

March 28

  • How did you prepare for the conversation?

We all participated in a gear up that addressed mindful communication before the group feedback session.

  • How did the conversation go for you? What was easy about the conversation? What was more difficult?

I wish the feedback I received was more actionable. I believe I have many areas I can improve in, and I would appreciate group members that don't mind pointing out what they see as defecits, but my theory is that most people don't want that level of feedback for themselves, so they don't offer it, or they're unwilling to say uncomfortable things. Or I'm just perfect.

I found it difficult to offer constructive feedback, as well. I did my best to address points that I thought my team mates could actually address.

  • What principles of feedback did you use in the conversation?

Compliment sandwiches, all the way. I also try to use a lot of 'we' and 'I feel' language to avoid making my partner feel attacked.

  • Any other comments:

I wish people were willing (or able?) to give me more useful feedback.
