Цей чат був створений на ~47 день війни в Україні, на яку напала Росія 24 лютого 2022 року. 18 березня 2022 Канада створила спрощену програму видачі віз українцям під назвою CUAET. Разом з цією візою почали видаватися дозволи на роботу без зазначення роботодавця (Open Work Permit, OWP коротко). Постала потреба допомагати українцям які будуть приїздити в Канаду з пошуком роботи, житла і безпеки. Трохи подумавши, було прийняте рішення сфокусуватися на людей з IT сфери і вибрати основну тему для допомоги - пошук роботи в Канаді.
- ви працюєте, або тільки починаєте кар'єру в ІТ-сфері (в америці це називається tech), і
- якщо ви щойно приїхали в Канаду, або
- тільки збираєтесь, або
- ви вже тут давно, і
- у вас є питання чи досвід яким ви хочете поділитися, і
- ви впевнені, що Пушкін і Ленін не є і не повинні бути історією України,
тоді ласкаво просимо!
Аби отримати бажаний результат, було визначено декілька правил спілкування:
- Намагайтеся чітко сформулювати свою проблему, а інші спробують допомогти вам її вирішити.
- Не залишайтеся осторонь, якщо можете допомогти.
- Не намагайтеся нав'язати свою думку, якщо вам нема чого сказати по суті питання.
- Ніяких образ, переходів на особистості, тролінгу, булінгу, нав'язування, чи пасивної агресії. Також ніякого спаму.
- Старайтеся підкріплювати свої слова посиланням на офіційні джерела інформації.

Ми просимо учасників чату утриматися від контроверсійних заяв. Якщо ви хочете, щоб вас переконали, чи накидали аргументів чому, наприклад "А хороший, а Б поганий", то підходьте до питання як відкрита книга - майте бажання бути "написаними", переконаними, навченими чомусь новому.
Організаційний комітет цього чату складається з людей з сильними політичними та іншими поглядами. Також, учасники чату можуть постити різкі висловлювання чи відкриту позицію на рахунок того чи іншого питання. Ми стараємося бути зважливими до усіх думок та поглядів на речі. Проте з часом, ми почали репрезентувати не тільки свою думку, а ще й те як ми бачимо наш чат.
Інтернет дає змогу кожному висловлюватись як хочеться, чи "змотивовувати" інших вступати в дискусію. Але, одночасно з тим, ми всі як в одному човні: будь-який конфлікт чату "чути" усім учасникам.
Також, якщо війна вас не переконала, що:
- "хороших руських не існує"
- прохання спілкуватись українською - це не насилля
то, імовірно, перебування в чаті не буде для вас корисним.
This chat was created on ~47th day of war in Ukraine, after Russia attacked UA on 24th of February, 2022. On 18th of March 2022 Canada Immigration (CIC for short) created a new program, called CUAET, to simplify Visa application process for Ukrainians who are fleeing the war. At the same time CIC began issuin Open work permit, allowing work for any employer (contrary to closed work permit, single employer only). A lot of Ukrainians coming to Canada are now in the need of work, accomodation, and general feeling of safety. Since we wanted to help in the most effective way, and after some consideration and testing, we decided to focus helping IT workers and picked our main goal - to help them find their first job.
- you are in Tech, or just starting, and
- you just arrived in Canada, or
- you are just planning to come, or
- you have been here for some time, and
- you have some question to ask or knowledge to share, and
- you are certain, that Pushkin or Lenin do not belong to Ukrainian history,
then you are very welcome!
To achieve best results, we defined a few communication rules:
- Please try to communicate clearly, so others can and will help you.
- Don't be a bystander, share your thoughts and experience, help where you see fit.
- Try to not force your opinion on anyone, especially if you have nothing else to say. Remember, everyone has their own perspective, and their own set of experiences.
- No bullying, pushing, trolling, offensive language, or targeted/passive agression. No spam as well.
- Try to provide an official source of information, to reduce confusion.

We ask all chat members to keep it civil and avoid posting controversial opinions out of blue. If you wish to be persuaded, or just gathering for and against some subject, for instance, why "A is good, B is bad", then try to approach public with an open mindset. Like a clean book - have capacity to be "written", be open for persuasion, be ready to learn something.
Our staff has strong opinions too. Sometimes political. Chat members can technically post strong statements or a defined position in some subject. We try to be considerate of all opinions or views. However, as community grows, we (staff) start to represent not only our own opinion, but also how we see our community.
Internet gives an ability to post anything you like, however you like, or even "motivate" others to start a heated discussion. At the same time, in this chat we are all in the same boat: every conflict is heard/seen by everyone.
With that said, if, thus far, war hasn't persuaded you:
- that there are no "good" russians
- that it's not a crime to ask you to communicate in ukrainian
then, we believe that it won't be useful for you to stay in our community.
