The code that was in this gist has been deprecated in favor of a new feature that you can use to change the display order of the event content. To use, you go to

http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=espresso_events&action=template_settings

and you set

Use Custom Display Order to Yes

then you drag and drop the rectangular boxes to change the order
