Context:
- Abandoned checkout.
- I’ve been putting a lot of work into my website recently and I’m trying to get more conversions.
- I recently added a third party app (onspruce) to monitor add to cart and checkout more closely.
- I’m noticing a large number of people are creating a checkout, but then it just seems abandoned.
- For instance, last night someone added to cart around 10pm, then they returned around 2am and started checkout, and then abandoned.

- Abandoned Checkouts Spams?
- Hi everyone, We’ve been dealing with an issue for nearly a month now where anonymous users keep submitting fake checkouts on our store.
- On average, we’re seeing around 10–15 abandoned checkouts per hour.
- It’s starting to really mess up our backend order statistics, making it harder to analyze real data.
- Our store allows customers to check out without registering, as we’re running ads everywhere and want to maximize ad ROI.
- Because of this, we don’t want to force account registration as a solution.

Context:
- Fake order issue I am getting high fake orders from a single email ID and ip address every day.
- I am unable to block the order or ban the customer account.
- I have created a fraud filter that cancels the order once it is placed bit this is still messing with my metrics.
- Typically the order adds multiple qty of rhe s ame variant like 10-15 and it's mostly a single sku order.
- For some reason the shopify dashboard continues to show these orders in the total sales although it is auto cancelled Am using shopify checkout so not able to customise anything there.

- How to really BLOCK a ‘Customer’….
- Okay - hopefully this will make sense…… I have a ‘customer’ who constantly puts a free tutorial in the cart, and then abandons it; comes right back, puts another (free) one in the cart and abandons it.

Frustration, Impatience, Overwhelm, Undesirable outcome:
- This happens over and over and over.
Conflict, Frustration, Resentment, Stuckness:
- Hundreds of times since this started - anywhere from 3 to dozens of times a DAY!
Stuckness:
- (Fraud filter) I do have that one installed - and set up filters for everything he has listed - but since he hasn’t actually completed an order, I don’t have an IP address.
Question:
- Sooooo, how do I stop him from even adding anything to the cart?
- But even if I did, would that block them from my site entirely?
Trying:
- For MONTHS! **I’ve tried:** deleting the customer - all that did was remove his info from previous abandoned carts, not for creating additional carts; disabling the free tutorials - that stopped him, but not fair to me, as I use them to attract customers to paid tutorials; Recommended by Shopify help, I installed Fraud filter app, but that, despite what the against said, doesn’t stop him from adding to cart.
- Why not use blockify: I looked at that one, but since they haven’t actually placed an order and have a ‘billing address’ not ‘shipping address’ listed, I can’t get an IP addy for them. 😞

Outcomes:
- Maybe - but I do try to keep an eye on abandoned carts, to make sure there isn’t a problem I’m not aware of - like shipping muckups and the like.
