Mac OSX hot key combos that will make you more productive

First off you need to know the key symbols associated with each key ☀️

Special Mac Keys 🍎

Key name Key symbol
command ⌘
shift ⇧
option/alt ⌥
control ⌃
caps lock ⇪

With memory being so cheap these days, it is not uncommon to have 2-10 programs open at once. To quickly toggle between open programs use:

  • ⌘ tab

Once you are in the program you want, you can quickly toggle between tabs in that program by using:

  • ⌃ tab

There are many diverse combinations that will do just about anything on a macintosh, but I just included the two that have made me the most productive. For an exhaustive list of hot key combinations visit macrumors.com
