vmware gparted increase disk space

Steps

  1. remove any snapshots (you cannot increase size in VMWare until you've done so)
  2. shut down vm
  3. open up settings for your VM
    1. click Hard Disk (SCSI)
    2. increase size of Disk
    3. hit Apply
    4. go back, click CD/DVD (SATA)
    5. check the box for Connect CD/DVD Drive
    6. choose the following iso: /Users/meowmeow/gparted-live-0.28.1-1-amd64.iso (or wherever you saved your GParted live ISO)
    7. go back, then click Startup Disk
    8. choose CD/DVD
    9. click Restart
  4. follow prompts for GParted Live disk startup
