| Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ): | |
| -------------------------------------- | |
| Q: What is mapping? | |
| A: Mapping is the process of making levels (AKA maps) for Robeats. | |
| Q: How do I start mapping? | |
| A: Download osu! (http://osu.ppy.sh/). Follow any guide online on how to map osu!mania (example: https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/118868) | |
| Q: How do I get the osu! editor into the 4-track mode? | |
| A: Go into the Song Setup, and under the Advanced tab should be an option that states "Allowed gamemodes". Select osu!mania from the drop-down list. Then, go to the Difficulty tab and set "Key Count" to 4. | |
| Q: How do I submit my map? | |
| A: Submit a osz (osu-zipped) file. This can be exported from the "file" menu in the osu editor. DM it to @spotco#5750 or someone on the discord with the #reviewer role. | |
| Please make sure it follows all the criteria mentioned in #mapping-information. | |
| Q: How to I test my map in Robeats? | |
| A: https://www.roblox.com/games/964613823/Robeats-Mapping-Place-Un-copylocked | |
| The place is un-copylocked, instructions are in the place (open with studio). Most people, if giving feedback on your map, would prefer it in osz (osu) form. | |
| Q: How do I convert my map from osu to robeats? | |
| The instructions are in the mapping place. | |
| Q: What is BPM? What BPM should I use for my map? How do I find BPM? | |
| A: BPM stands for beats per minute, and it is used to measure the tempo/speed of a song. | |
| To find BPM, there are 3 ways to do it: | |
| 1.) Searching the BPM online | |
| 2.) Using the BPM/timing points of a ranked osu! beatmap | |
| 3.) Using the BPM finding feature inside of osu! to tap to the beat of the song and find it. | |
| Q: What is offset? | |
| A: Offset is used to change where your timing point (or BPM) begins. You generally want your offset to be lined up exactly with the first major beat of your song. If you have trouble getting it lined up exactly, use the speed option in the bottom right corner to slow down the song and listen for the BPM ticking sound. | |
| Q: How do I make the lines on the track smaller? | |
| A: Move the "Beat Snap Divisor" slider in the top right corner. Try to stick to only using things less than 1/8th though, unless if the song has 1/8 snap rhythms! | |
| Q: How do I make the track scroll faster when mapping? | |
| A: Click the + and - buttons up at the top left of the editor. | |
| Q: How do I make several difficulties? | |
| A: Click "File" at the very top left corner, and then click "Create a new difficulty". | |
| Q: How do I save my map as a .osz file? | |
| A: Click "File at the very top left corner, and then click "Export package". |
