- I would like to advance my skills to the point where I can mentor other developers. I would like to either work for or volunteer with a non-profit and use my skills to help others. Long-term I would like to be able to work remotely and travel while working.
- Confidence going into interviews. I plan to take interviews with companies I'm not interested in working for just to become more familiar with the process in general.
- Just sticking with the plan and devoting myself to the above plan.
Imagine that it's 5 years from now - what have you accomplished during that time? How is your life different? What steps did you take to achieve your goals?
- Worked as a junior dev for one to two years and developed my skills. Continued on the career path to senior dev or project manager depending on the company. Developed a network of peers and earned their respect. Mentor students and other developers.
- I will make myself a valuable employee for the company that I work for. I will attend workshops and take classes to continue to advance my skill set. I am comfortable with a high level of responsibility within the company I work for, but do not aspire to own my own business as of now. I will become an invaluable employee and foster growth for myself as well as the larger community. I will work on my design skills and focus on improving those as well as fundamental coding skills the first on the job. Long term I will work in an enviroment that not only develops my skills as a developer but that also allows me to give back.
