How to fix Intel NUC that refuses to boot

Recently I have got a problem. My NUC7 refused to boot OS. The sympthom was exact as in this posting. The power button turned to solid amber/orange color (no blinking).

I've tried holding the power button for any length between 3 to 15 seconds, no changes.

Fortunately I solved the problem following an advice from Intel NUC community. The link to possible solutions is here.

I diassembled the NUC7 to reach an opposite side of the main board (with cooling fan and CMOS battery). I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes, and then connected it again. It solved the problem with power indicator and booting.

Works like a charm.
Noticing a cmos battery warning, might need to replace CR2032 battery.

Is it possible to publish instructions for Ubuntu 22.04? And then the version of .NET Core has changed to 6, and at startup it still requires 3.1

Was sure my NUC was dead and the battery trick revived it. I owe you a glass of your favorite drink.

I just bought a NUC13 Core i5 in 2023 and instead of orange light, it just showed a white light momentarily and the fans kept running but the power led goes off within a few seconds and nothing is shown on the screen, and I just did this and it worked! Thanks a lot for this tips!

@leopck how did you disassemble the NUC to get to the battery? I am experiencing the same problem but cannot figure out how to get to the CMOS battery...

@jaromirrivera you'll need to disassemble it quite a bit, something like this https://youtu.be/Sr-PXrcZzDU?t=75

@jaromirrivera And it is specific to the maker of your NUC. My fanless OnLogic one simple had a few screws and the board slid right out. The battery is on the bottom of the board, so it was a bit of a hassle, but no problem.
