October Publisher Community Post

Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Postman API Network publisher newsletter! This new series is all about helping API owners create the best developer experience for their API consumers, so you can meet developers where they are, distribute your APIs at scale, and acquire new developers in the process.

Let’s dive in 👇

Learn from the top publishers

Each month we look at the fastest collections on the Network and share key lessons any publisher can take away from these high performers. Let’s explore what we can learn from this month’s leaders:

Withings: Withings is a leader in health and wellness technology, offering products like smart scales and health monitors that provide users with actionable insights. On the Network, they use what we call an overview collection with resources to help streamline onboarding and understanding of their API. Check out how to create your own use case collections here.

Brex: Brex is a financial technology company that offers business credit cards and cash management solutions tailored for startups, e-commerce, and growing companies. Their docs include a whole page dedicated on how to get started with their APIs using Postman, including a video and multiple Run in Postman Buttons.

Merge: Merge is an API integration platform that enables businesses to easily integrate and manage customer data across various HR, payroll, accounting, and other systems. Merge also includes a page in their docs on how they use Postman to help streamline onboarding.

New on the Network: Public Workspace Updates

You can now publish updates directly to watchers of your workspace, making it easier to engage with your developers and keep them up-to-date. Whether you’re announcing a new version, a hotfix, or something cool, this feature enhances your ability to communicate with your community — and comments and reactions mean they can let you know how they feel 👏

To publish an update, navigate to the new Updates section of your Workspace home:

And be sure to check your Public Workspace Metrics to see how your updates impact views, forks, and API calls. Going forward, watchers will no longer receive one-off emails each time you edit your collections. With Public Workspace Updates, you can now choose when and what they will receive, allowing you to craft engaging announcements and ensure your users get only high-quality content.

Publisher Inspiration

HubSpot’s Postman overview page for faster onboarding

HubSpot has recently launched a dedicated landing page for their Postman workspace. Standalone Postman pages within a dev portal like this enables developers to quickly discover and onboard to the APIs in the Publisher’s public workspace on the Network.

Belvo’s onboarding experience using Run in Postman buttons

We love how Belvo onboards their developers with a unique use of Run In Postman buttons. From their portal, users can create an account and instantly open the Postman workspace with Belvo credentials baked in, streamlining the onboarding process into a single step. To use the Postman SDK to create a one-click onboarding like Belvo, explore the Postman SDK here.
