Version 1.0 — 2026-09-18
This agreement is between you, the contributor identified by the GitHub account accepting this agreement, and Stewart Adam (the Maintainer) for the Nightfall project at https://github.com/stewartadam/nightfall-lightdesk.
A Contribution is original code, documentation, or other material you intentionally submit for inclusion in Nightfall after accepting this agreement. Material you clearly identify as third-party material is excluded from your grants under this agreement and remains subject to its applicable license.
You retain ownership of your Contributions. You grant the Maintainer a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free copyright license to reproduce, modify, create derivative works from, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, and sublicense your Contributions.
This grant expressly permits the Maintainer to license and relicense your Contributions and derivative works under any license terms, including open-source, commercial, or proprietary terms, and to offer multiple licenses. The Maintainer does not need further permission from you or owe you payment for exercising these rights. You remain free to use and license your own Contributions independently.
You grant the Maintainer and recipients of Nightfall a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive patent license to make, have made, use, sell, offer for sale, import, and otherwise transfer your Contributions, alone or as incorporated in Nightfall. This grant covers only patent claims you control that are necessarily infringed by your Contribution or its combination with Nightfall as submitted. If a recipient brings patent litigation alleging that your Contribution infringes a patent, the patent rights granted to that recipient under this agreement terminate when that litigation is filed.
You represent that you have authority to make these grants. If an employer or another party owns rights in a Contribution, you must obtain that party's authorization before submitting it under this agreement. Acceptance in your personal capacity does not grant rights owned by another party without that authority.
You must identify third-party material, its source, its license, and any restrictions known to you when submitting it. This agreement does not override third-party licenses or grant rights you do not possess.
You have no obligation to provide support or future Contributions. Except for the representations expressly made in this agreement, you provide Contributions as-is, without warranties, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Accepting this agreement through the project's CLA service records your assent using your GitHub identity. The Maintainer may retain the acceptance record and the version accepted. Changes to this agreement require fresh acceptance and do not alter rights already granted under an earlier version. Commit-level Developer Certificate of Origin signoffs remain a separate project requirement.
