We want all attendees to be able to focus their full attention on learning and creating at this event. This is impossible to do if you are being harassed or discriminated against. Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show respect and courtesy to each other in all interactions.
To make sure that everyone has a common understanding of โshow respect and courtesy to each other,โ we have adopted the following code of conduct.
The Sound + Code = Jam event is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, personal appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, religion, nationality, or another similar characteristic.
Examples of behaviour that contributes to creating a respectful vibe include:
- Being kind and courteous to others.
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.
- Showing empathy towards our fellow attendees.
- Accepting responsibility and apologizing to those affected by our mistakes.
Examples of unacceptable behavior by event attendees include:
- The display of inappropriate images or language, including but not limited to sexualized or violent imagery or language.
- Discriminatory jokes and language.
- Spamming, flaming, baiting or other attention-stealing behavior.
- Trolling, insulting, derogatory comments, and personal attacks.
If an attendee violates this code of conduct, the event facilitators may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the attendee about the violation or expelling them from the event.
The goal of this document is to set the overall tone for our community of learning. This event should be a safe space for learning, not a place to push the boundaries of good taste. This is not an exhaustive list of things you can and cannot do. Please take this document in the spirit in which it is intended and try to be your best self.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please speak with one of the event facilitators. We will be happy to do whatever we can to help those experiencing harassment to feel safe as part of this event.
