A healthy tree starts with a small seed and a good product has its foundation in its requirements. Designers of product or service or software need to identify the requirements that are correct and complete. Need is the mother of all creations. Need is good for talking, but not fit for implementation as it is a vague statement. One cannot create a product out of need. So we have to convert the need into requirements, which is precise and means the same thing (or unambiguous) to whom so ever it is presented. To make things easy, I will use the term ‘product’ which includes the meaning of ‘product’, ‘software’ and ‘service’, as all of them goes through the same steps from cradle to grave.
The typical milestones in a product development are stakeholder inputs, requirements specification, technical specification, development, testing and hand-over. We talk a lot about Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) or Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) on daily basis. But the problem is PDLC / SDLC undermines the impo

Fhyzics' P-S-P Approach in Business Analysis
Business analysis is the process of requirements gathering, understanding, analysing, documenting, communicating and finally recommending right solutions to the stakeholders. One of the major activities of a business analyst is to work closely with the stakeholders in gathering the requirements and creating a common shared understanding among the stakeholders, which leads to a solution. Business Analysts need stakeholders for two reasons: (1) BAs develop solutions to meet the very needs of stakeholders, so better understand what stakeholders want and (2) As the stakeholders have good knowledge about the processes and systems within the organizations, so take advantage of their knowledge. Process Design Helps a Company to Rapidly Adapt to Dynamic Market Conditions
Client Overview
Our client is one of the reputed electrical appliance manufacturers based in North America and having its products sold globally. They have their manufacturing operations outsourced to South East Asian countries and managerial decisions taken in Northern Part of America. They are a pioneer in creating innovative household and cleaning solutions. Their operational history dates back to more than a century back to Australia.
Problem Statement
Starting with a minimum man power of 5 our client has now grown to accommodate more than 500 employees in the last decade meaning a back-log in terms of systems and processes used. Due to the exponential growth and phenomenal success in its product sales there came a point where the flow of information, control of communication and feedback for any reviews and change became literally hard to track, communicate, execute and accomplish. A centralised fool-proof process was required to tackle this chaos within the organisation for better clarity and imp
What is a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)?
The word ‘Standard Operating Procedure’ shortly known as SOP, probably originated in military or healthcare domains to instill best practices in performing a specific function. SOP is a written document with step-by-step instructions to guide the performer of a process or a function or an activity. The purpose of SOP is not to teach someone how to do a work or to impart a skill, but to imbibe best practices that ensures some sort of standardization in performing a work in a most optimal way. For example, take a SOP ‘Operating a Car’. This SOP will not teach someone how to drive a car, but it does teach the best practices that shall be followed while operating a car such as wearing seat belt, never to move the car while the passengers are within 5 m radius etc.
SOP Classification:
There are three major classifications.
1. SOPs for different verticals such as SOP for Banking, Hospitality, Healthcare, Government, Retail, Supply Chain, Warehousing, Education, Insuranc
