System Preferences:
- Dock > Prefer tabs when opening documents > Always.
- Tabs are built in many Apple apps.
- See an overview of tabs by View > Show All Tabs.
- Merge tabs across windows by Window > Merge All Windows.
- Rename files or folders: enter or Force Click.
- Delete files or folders: cmd+delete.
- View > Show Tab bar, Path bar, Status bar.
- Cut and paste files and folders: cmd+C to copy as usual, then opt+cmd+V to turn paste into Move items here.
- Show Library: Go Home > Right Click > Show View Options > Show Library Folder.
- Change default icon view: Right Click > Show View Options > change the settings such as Sort By to Kind and click Use as Defaults. (Press opt to change the button to Restore to Defaults.) You can Clean Up if to fit in grids. You can also change the background.
- Any icon of files, folders or applications can be changed. Check this folder icon sets!
- Rebuild Spotlight index if the filenames are wrong.
- Crop and annotate any images or PDFs.
- cmd+C to copy the image or PDF page.
- Split or merge PDF pages by dragging the thumbnails on the sidebar to desktop.
- cmd+C to copy the current frame.
- Trim videos: Edit > Trim...
- shift+cmd+5.
- Open link in a new tab: cmd+click.
- Show favicons in tab: Preferences > Show website icons in tabs.
- Quick add to bookmarks: Right click on "+" icon on the address box.
- Reopen closed tabs: Right click on "+" new tab icon.
- Toggle time zone: Preferences > Advanced > Turn on time zone support.
- You can create nested folders.
- Double click on a note to open in a window.
- Force Click to lookup words.
- Spotlight to search words, and cmd+L to jump to the Definition.
- Paste plain text: shift+opt+cmd+V.
- Delete the previous character: fn+delete.
- cmd+tab to switch application, and Q to quit the selected one.
