Really helpful. One question. What is the meaning of keywords like E..V, F.A, D.V ?

I would really love an answer to this as well. I've looked all over the place and can't find an explanation.

So, I'm not an expert on ffmpeg, but intuition tells me "infile options" means options affecting the input video file so that'll go after ffmpeg but before the input file name, whereas "outfile options" probably means the options you put after in the input file name but before the output file name, like so:

ffmpeg 'infile options' -i input.mkv 'outfile options' output.mkv

Can someone add e. g. what -c:a means?

ffmpeg -i input.mp3 -c:a libvorbis output.ogg

I understand that this converts from a .mp3 file to .ogg, but I can not memorize -c:a as I
don't know what this stands for. I guess audio codec. But that is one example of many
more. ffmpeg can be so super-confusing so such text files help a lot really.
