“Bouldering & Capybara Café – Company Establishment and Visa Acquisition (2025-06-11)”

LLC Establishment / Business Manager Visa Requirements

◇ Application Flow 1. Decide on Basic Company Details • Company name, address, business objectives, capital amount, fiscal year, etc. 2. Draft Articles of Incorporation • For an LLC, notarization at a public notary office is not required. 3. Deposit Capital • An LLC can be established with as little as 1 yen in capital. • However, for a Business Manager Visa, a capital amount of at least 5 million yen is generally required. 4. Company Registration • Register key company details at the Legal Affairs Bureau, including: company name, headquarters address, representative’s name and address, business objectives, etc. 5. Notifications to the Tax Office • Submit notifications such as: • “Notification of Incorporation” • “Notification of Opening a Salary-Paying Office” • “Application for Special Exception on Withholding Tax Due Dates” • Copies of these are required for the Business Manager Visa application. 6. Obtain Business Licenses (if required) • If your business requires authorization or licensing from government agencies, you must complete this before applying for the visa. 7. Apply for the Business Manager Visa at the Immigration Bureau • After completing steps 1–6, submit your application. • Once the visa is approved, you may begin business operations.

◇ Requirements for the “Business Manager Visa”

(Processing Time: Approximately 1–3 Months)

If you don’t yet qualify, consider the “Startup Visa (Designated Activities)” • Allows a 6-month stay (extendable up to 1 year) to prepare for starting a business in Japan. • Commonly used as a preliminary step before applying for the Business Manager Visa. • (Refer to separate PDF for more details)

Key Requirements: • Capital of at least 5 million yen • Secured physical office (rental/shared office is acceptable) • Clear business plan (must include sustainability and profitability) • Proper management structure (must not be a nominal manager — actual involvement in operations is required)

◇ List of Required Documents • Business Manager Visa application form • Business plan (including projected revenue, business goals, operational plans) • Certificate of company registration • Articles of incorporation • Office lease agreement • Proof of capital deposit • Copies of passport and residence card

⚠ Common Pitfalls • Insufficient capital • Vague business plan • Incomplete office lease agreement • Lack of business track record in Japan

→ If you cannot prove relevant past work or business experience, your suitability as a manager may be questioned. Prepare documents that demonstrate your career and industry experience. • Unstable business performance at the time of visa renewal

◇ Tips for Writing the Business Plan 1. Business Overview • Purpose of the business (what you are offering) • Business details (services, products, target market) • Strengths (competitive edge, unique value) 2. Market Analysis and Competition • Market demand and competition in Japan • Customer targeting and marketing strategy • Differentiation from competitors 3. Management Policy and Revenue Plan • Revenue forecast and budget for years 1–3 • Specific strategies to ensure profitability • Differentiation strategies 4. Capital and Financial Plan • Breakdown of initial investments (office, staff, working capital) • Source of funds (self-financing, loans, investors) 5. Operations and Staffing • Role of the business owner and management policy • Number of required staff and hiring plan

Write clearly and concretely.
