1. When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal?
How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?
``When I worked towards a goal in the past, I would write out or outline what my plan is to reach that goal and each time
I accomplish a task I would check it off making me feel that I am accomplishing my task for the goal. I could adapt this
system to use while at turing is making an outline of what my goals at turing are for an overall view. In a more detailed
aspect I would for instance in each module and for each project what my goals are and what the task I need to complete that
goal are. This would help me feel less unstuck about what to do next. It would also make tiny wins for me so that it becomes
a little easier to keep pushing foward.``
2. As you start this new career, what is one of your strengths and how do you know?
``One of the strengths that I know I have is preserverance. How do I know is that because even if something goes wrong or
when something in my life does not work out, I keep on pushing forward. Before Turing I had another goal in mind and I set
up my outline to reach that goal. I made progress within the outline but was pushed back and had to repeat the course. I
knew it was something I was passionate about so I kept preservering. Of course life threw many curveballs and in the end
that goal was not met. Of course it hurted but I needed to move on and think about a new goal in sight and keep
preservering.``
3. Describe how you work best (conditions, environment, preferences, etc.):
''How I work best would be in a place where I will not get distracted easily. I tend to if alone like to look around and
twiddle my fingers. I would perfer to start in person on in the classroom because I feed off of others energy,
but with everything going on in the world it is understandable. I could work fairly well under any condtions but to do my
best work, it is best if I am around others who are interested and working on the same thing as I am. I like having others
around to know that we are all struggling and feeling similar. Now as I was working through Mod 1 pre-work, I had my stuff
animals around me so that I feel more comfortable and less alone, which helped me focus on my work.``
4. As you start this new career, what is your greatest area of improvement when it comes to your professional skills?
``My greatest area of improvement when it comes to my professional skills would that I need to be more confident in my
self and my work. I tend to end a lot of my sentences sounding the questions and also very hesitant about showing my work,
which I know is not great for this field. I want to work on becoming more confident in myself first so that I can be
confident in my work and showing it off to everyone. I believe that the more confident you are the more people will listen
to you and respect you and your work.``
5. How will developing a deeper understanding of your strengths and working preferences benefit you as a software
developer?
``How developing a deeper understanding of my strenghts and working preferences benefit me as a software developer is
knowing what I am good at helps me focus more on my weaknesses so that I can grow my weaknesses into strengths as well.
If I have a deeper understanding of my strengths I know that I can also help others in this area and they could help me
in other areas that are their strength. Knowing how I work best will help me because I would already know what works best
and set that peference up wherever I am so that I could do my best work no matter where I am and what the situation is.
This will also help me as a software developer by setting myself up for success rather than failure. It shows me how I
need to work for best results and also tells me where I excel at and where I may need to ask for help.``
6. Describe the vision you currently have for your career after Turing:
``What I currently envision for my career after turing is hopefully finding a job any job first to get myself in the door
and to get myself more experience for more opening into what I want to do as a software developer. I hope to have my first
job as I am graduating from Turing and gain insightful experience at that job for a few years. Next I want to start
looking for careers in something that peaks my interest more as a software developer. I hopefully by the time I am a senior
developer I want to be in a job that I love doing everyday for a long time.``
