- Assess your habits from week 2: how did you spend your time this past week? What was effective in your habits? What could be more effective? What steps will you take to make that happen?
- I spent my time reteaching lessons if I did not understand the content during the day. I also implemented a new habit where I carved out self study time for myself because I used to just worked on the project all day long and didn't really study other things I needed to know. I still haven't gotten into the running every morning as it has been cold and harder for me to self motivate myself. What was effective in my habits was since I have self study time I am re-teaching the content and working on other things like JS fun which has made me stronger in coding with project work. What is in effective is that I still haven't worked on getting out and exercising, what steps I need to take is going to be earlier so that I can get up earlier.
- Reflect on how you’ve spent your time so far at Turing to gauge your engagement and energy:
- I am an introvert so when we are all together I tend to just want to sit back and listen. When I am in a breakout room though I am actively engaged and working on what we need to at the moment. I am more engage if I am more awoke and have energey but on days where I stay up too late working on something I know that the next day I feel groggy and really don't want to participate, so I have set an end time where I ABSOLUTELY need to stop coding and get ready for be, which is 10PM.
- When have you been excited, focused, and enjoyed your work? When have you felt bored, restless, or unhappy? When do you feel energized in your work? When is your energy drained?
- When I have felt excired, focused, and enjoyed my work is when I can make something that is tangible and when I can get something to work after problem-solving it.When I have felt bored. restless, or unhappy is when I am really stuck on a problem that no matter what I try I can't get it to work. I feel energized in my work when I work on something that speaks to me! My energy is drained is when I have overworked myself of it begins to feel repetitive.
- Setting up habits and routines to make time for the job search this module:
- Block out time on your calendar this week to work on your job search. When will you make this happen? How will you hold yourself accountable to this? What activities will you focus on during this time this week? What outcomes do you hope to reach by the end of this week because of these activities?
Friday, December 18th, 4PM - 5PM, I will hold myself accountable by getting on and working on it with a friend from the cohort over zoom so that the both of us will work on our PD or I will take PD time to work on my job search as well. What outcomes I do hope to find a couple of jobs that would align to my value and what I am looking for in a job or to help clarify what I am really looking for in a job.
- Applying wayfinding to using job search resources
-
Go through the resources listed here and explore 2-3 tools. List what you looked at here:
- BuiltIn
- keyvalues.com
-
Apply wayfinding: of what you looked at, what did you discover that aligns with your vision? If it didn’t align with your vision, what will you try next? Decide what tools to bookmark to explore later.
- What aligns with my decision the most out of what I looked at is keyvalues.com because it gives you an option to pick so many things that you value and it will narrow down companies for you that matches your values. Out of the three that I looked at I don't think that any did not aligned with my vision. If something did not align with my vision and especially as a junior dev I want to really look at what they are offering and if it is worth it to gain some experience first then find something that align closer to my values.
-
Find a job posting that aligns with your vision. What’s the posting? How does it align with what you’re looking for? Add it to your Huntr.
- It is a posting for careguide. It aligns with what I am looking for because I use to be a nanny and I know what parents are looking for. They are also commited -to personal growth and that is one of my values. The biggest one for me is that they say that it is a safe place to fail and as a junior developer to me that would be a great place to start.
-
What next steps will you take to explore that opportunity and find contacts? Add that information to your Huntr card.
- Next step I would take is to look through the page and their website and see if there are any connections I can make. I also want to do more research about the company as well.
