:q - Quit Editing
:q! - Quit without questioning it
*u - Undo/redo
dw - deletes word starting with the letter where the cursor sits
*o - add new line and enter text
:w - save file
I - Add text to the start of a line
R - Replace text after cursor
x - to remove unwanted characters
i - 
Cat <followed by filename - shows the contents of a text file
Chmod +x <filename> - makes the filename executable
